Last Tuesday, December 8th, 2020, JIU students held an online Christmas celebration together. However, there were also a number of students who attended this event in person. Of course, all these students have a rapid test already before they joined this event, to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
This Christmas event was held solemnly and full of joy. Big smiles and seriousness of the students when participating in this event could be seen on their faces. Not only that, staff and lecturers also attended this student Christmas event together. All who attended this Christmas event rejoiced.
Mr. Jeff Howie from New Zealand had the opportunity to deliver Christmas message. The message reminds us to become individuals who proclaim the Good News to the whole world, that Jesus Christ has been born into the world to save mankind and to give the gift of salvation and abundant life to those who believe in Him, and the whole world is glorifying His Name (Luke 2:8-20).
On this joyful day, freshmen to junior students also offered praise. They offered Christmas performances through the video they have prepared. Each student group prepared its appearance well. It was proven that they sang the song in a harmonious manner. In addition, the qualified video editing capabilities of each student group amazed everyone who watches, both online and in person.
At the end of the event, Ms. Agnechia, one of the lecturers of the English Language and Literature Study Program and also the Supervisor of the Student Union, conveyed a Merry Christmas greeting and also expressed her appreciation to all students, parents, staff, and lecturers who were willing to attend and to students who had prepared this Christmas event well. In addition, there was also a representative of the student’s parents, namely Pdt. Itayani T. Dalib Situmorang conveyed Merry Christmas greetings and also thanks to the staff, lecturers, and dormitory staff who have tried hard to look after and educate all JIU students.
