A Week in Banjarmasin: JIU’s Journey to Connect and Inspire

The last week of September 2025 became a memorable journey for Jakarta International University (JIU) as the team visited Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan, to share about the university and connect with local communities.

The journey began on September 24–25, when JIU took part in the Sidang Sinode GKE by opening an information booth at the Gedung Kantor Majelis Sinode Gereja Kalimantan Evangelis (GKE). For two days, more than a hundred delegates from various regions across Indonesia stopped by to learn about JIU’s study programs, admission process, and campus activities. The team also made a short visit to SMA Kristen GKE Banjarmasin, building early coordination for an upcoming socialization event and introducing the university’s profile to the school representatives.

On September 26, JIU continued its activities by joining the Youth Service at GKE Eben Ezer, attended by around ten enthusiastic students. Through a warm and interactive session, the team shared not only information about JIU but also encouraged participants to see education as a journey of character growth and faith.

The following day, September 27, JIU met another group of young people during the Youth Service at GKE Eppata. The session was filled with laughter and engagement, as the students learned about JIU’s supportive learning environment and global opportunities.

On Sunday, September 28, JIU had the honor of speaking at GBI Rock Banjarmasin during two services attended by around a hundred congregants. The team presented JIU’s vision and mission, along with its programs, facilities, and various student development activities designed to shape globally minded leaders.

The school visits continued on September 29 at SMA Kristen GKE Banjarmasin and on September 30 at Mitra Kasih School Banjarmasin, reaching more than thirty students in total. Despite the small groups, the sessions were interactive and filled with curiosity—especially about JIU’s exchange programs and international opportunities.

Through a week full of meaningful encounters, JIU strengthened its connection with schools and communities in Banjarmasin, opening doors for more young people to pursue quality education and a future full of possibilities.
