JIU Expands Outreach Through Marketing Trip to North Sulawesi

April 29th – May 7th, 2025 – In a continued effort to strengthen its presence across Indonesia, Jakarta International University (JIU) conducted a strategic marketing and admissions trip to North Sulawesi from April 29th to May 7th, 2025. Represented by Ms. Sarah Wenda and Mr. Jun Watabe, the team visited four key areas—Manado, Tondano, Tomohon, and Ranoketang—with the goal of introducing JIU’s academic offerings and expanding awareness of its scholarship opportunities.

This outreach is part of JIU’s long-term strategy to engage with potential students and partners outside Java, particularly in regions with increasing interest in international-standard Christian education. The trip aimed to promote JIU’s English-based academic programs, share information about scholarships, and build lasting relationships with schools, churches, and youth organizations in the area.

During the week-long visit, the team connected with 16 high schools, focusing on students in Grades 10 and 11. These sessions reached approximately 530 students and included interactive presentations about JIU’s values, programs, and student life. A strong emphasis was placed on the university’s Pre-ESL program, which serves as a pathway for students who may need to improve their English before entering their degree programs.

The team also engaged with local church leaders, youth fellowships, and Compassion Indonesia (PPA) groups. Through Sunday services, small group discussions, and individual meetings with parents and community members, the team was able to share JIU’s mission and holistic approach to education. These engagements reached an estimated 477 individuals across the four cities.

While the number of immediate applicants from this trip is modest, the impact was significant. The visit successfully introduced JIU to a new region and laid the groundwork for future student recruitment. Connections made with school administrators, church leaders, and youth mentors are expected to support continued engagement and long-term collaboration.

JIU’s Marketing and Admissions Affairs team will continue nurturing the relationships built during this trip, ensuring that follow-up communication, support, and visibility remain strong in North Sulawesi. This initiative marks another important step in JIU’s mission to bring quality, values-based education to young leaders across Indonesia.
