The students of Jakarta International University (JIU) successfully hosted the JIU Art Festival 2025 on April 24–25, 2025, carrying the vibrant theme “Mosaic of Culture.” The two-day festival was a lively and colorful celebration of creativity and cultural diversity within the JIU community.
The first day of the festival opened with an official ceremony led by Dr. Agus Hartadi, S.E., M.A., Rector of JIU, accompanied by Miss Gloria Pratiwi Waang, S.E., M.B.A., Head of Student Affairs, and Mona Artades Saulina Simbolon, Chairperson of the Art Festival Event from the Student Union. Following the opening remarks, the event continued with cultural presentations from various regions of Indonesia, as well as from the home countries of JIU’s international students. Each presentation highlighted the rich traditions and unique stories behind each culture, inspiring great enthusiasm among the audience.
The energy continued to rise with a lively fashion show featuring traditional costumes from different Indonesian provinces and international cultures. Students confidently showcased the beauty of their heritage through colorful and intricate traditional attire, taking the audience on a vibrant cultural journey around the world.
Visitors were also encouraged to explore a variety of cultural booths set up across the venue. Each booth offered exciting missions related to local traditions and customs. Participants who completed the missions successfully received attractive prizes from the organizing committee, adding more excitement and engagement to the festival experience.
On the second day, the festival moved to Danvit Hall, starting at 1:00 PM. The event opened with captivating dance and band performances by JIU students, followed by a welcoming speech from the Rector. The main stage was then filled with a variety of traditional performances, showcasing the diverse arts from across Indonesia, including Batak, Javanese, Sumbanese, Papuan, Dayak, Nias, and many others. Each performance was warmly received by the audience, who actively joined in the festive spirit.
The JIU Art Festival has become an annual event that not only serves as a platform for students to express their creativity but also fosters mutual respect and appreciation among cultures. Through this festival, the entire JIU academic community is encouraged to strengthen unity in diversity and to continually celebrate and preserve the rich cultural heritage that each student proudly represents.
