From November 1st to 8th 2024, JIU embarked on a significant outreach initiative in Central Kalimantan, visiting some of the region’s top schools. Led by Mr. Samuel and Mr. Paul Oh, the team engaged with students and educators from SMAN 2 Palangkaraya, SMAN 4 Palangkaraya, SMAN 1 Kahayan Tengah, SMKN 4 Palangkaraya, and SMAN 2 Kahayan Tengah.
The primary objective of the tour was to inspire and inform students about the educational opportunities available at JIU. Through detailed presentations and interactive sessions, students gained insights into JIU’s diverse academic programs, state-of-the-art facilities, and vibrant campus life. The sessions highlighted JIU’s mission to cultivate future leaders by providing an enriching educational environment.
A focal point of the visit was the introduction of JIU’s scholarship programs. These programs aim to support students, particularly those from underprivileged backgrounds, by offering financial assistance to pursue higher education. The scholarships are designed to remove financial barriers and provide equal opportunities for academic and personal growth.
Throughout the tour, students explored various aspects of JIU’s offerings, including its emphasis on leadership development and global perspectives. They learned about the university’s commitment to excellence, innovation, and creating a supportive community for all learners. The presentations underscored how JIU equips students with the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in an increasingly interconnected world.
The outreach program also emphasized the importance of education as a tool for transformation. By showcasing success stories and providing a clear path to higher education, JIU aimed to motivate students to envision a brighter future. Educators and students alike engaged in meaningful discussions about academic goals, career aspirations, and the role of higher education in personal development.
This initiative not only raised awareness about JIU’s programs but also fostered connections between the university and local schools. Plans for future collaborations, including mentorship programs and ongoing support, were also discussed, laying the groundwork for sustained partnerships.
The Central Kalimantan tour marked an important step in JIU’s ongoing mission to reach out to talented youth across the region. By offering guidance and resources, JIU continues to empower students, helping them turn their educational dreams into reality. This is just the beginning, as JIU remains dedicated to nurturing the next generation of leaders through meaningful engagement and support.
